Looking For an Online Language Course?

By Kristi Ambrose

Learning a new and different language has always been a really popular topic among people, it seems like at one point or another in a person's life they are interested in speaking a language other their own. If you were lucky then the school you went to offered some sort of a language course. For me it was French simply because I love the sound of the language as well as France itself. One language I have always really wanted to try was Japanese. If you're interested in learning how to speak or write in Japanese you can find courses online that will teach you these things. Most of these courses are free but sometimes you will find one that will ask you to pay a fee of some sort. If this is the case, just go for it! Japanese can be one of the hardest languages to master, but it's also the most rewarding!

Another thing you can do aside from finding e-courses online, is finding e-books and videos but just as a warning a lot of these Japanese Courses do offer these things, and usually they are the ones with fees. Personally I can learn to do something quicker and easier, when I can see it visually. This is where the videos come in handy for learning to write things such as different words and the Japanese alphabet.

To find some of these sites online, as well as view prices (if any) for the courses it's a really good idea to go to you're favorite search engine like Google, Ask, or Yahoo! and do a keyword search relevant to some of these examples "Learn Japanese Online", "Learn Basic Japanese Online", "Free Japanese Courses Online" or "Learn Japanese Alphabet Online." There are also other sites that don't offer courses per se, but they will give you recommendations for reading materials, tips and advice on learning the Japanese language, as well as examples of different writings in the Japanese language. These sites are made with you the user in mind, and are incredibly easy to follow, learn, and navigate! Here are some sites that do offer Japanese Learning Courses online:

Word2Word
WorldWideLearn
Basic-Japanese
JapanesePod101

I just want to mention JapanesePod101 really quick, this site is really cool! They offer free daily pod casts direct from Tokyo and they teach you how to speak Japanese! Any of the sites I listed as well as others you might find online are generally for people with all sorts of different levels of aptitude. From the beginner who hasn't ever tried speaking this language, on up to the seasoned speaker. These sites are a great choice for anyone! If you want to, you can also find online "schools" that offer language courses such as MLCJapanese, Phoenix, and AbroadLanguages dot com. You will definitely have to pay for these schools but it will be well worth you're time, effort, and money!
