So you want to learn Spanish, huh? I have some good news for you -- it's a lot easier than you think. As long as you follow the right process, you can be speaking nearly conversational Spanish in under two months.
Before you embark on any language learning process, it's important to know the best way to learn a language. When we were children, we didn't know a single word -- and had very undeveloped brains -- and became fluent in our first language in usually about two years. We didn't go through language training. We were simply immersed in the language at all times, and our brains forced us to pick it up.
As adults, we are at an advantage because we already have a solid grasp on one language. If you know English, then you already have most of the foundation of Spanish down! Because of this, if we simply find ways to immerse ourselves -- even if just for one hour a day -- we can learn another language, like Spanish, very quickly.
It's good to first build a base in Spanish. For this, I highly recommend software that will give you your initial immersion into the language while teaching you basic grammar.
From there, continue with the software lessons for an hour a day, if you can, and then spend another half hour to an hour immersing yourself in the language. How can you do this? I recommend finding someone who speaks Spanish, and just sitting and talking with them! If that's not possible, find a Spanish newspaper online and read it (alongside a free translation service, available online). Write down the words you don't know and study them.
If you want to learn Spanish, you are at a great advantage if you already speak English. Just learn the basic grammar rules of Spanish and then find ways to immerse yourself in the language and I promise you will be speaking conversationally in only a few months -- it worked for me!
