What Spanish Basics Should You Learn?

By Noah M. Benjamin

Probably the most important part of any language learning is getting down the basics. You must learn your Spanish basics before you try to really speak the language! The reason for this is very simple. This article will try to explain some basics of Spanish, and the best place to start in really learning the language. Using these tactics, you can learn conversational Spanish in under two months if you already speak English very well.

Before you really get into learning Spanish, you must know Spanish grammar very well! Don't worry, learning grammar rules will take you probably only about a week or two if you really dedicate yourself. The reason I say this is because most Spanish learners, as they advance, focus all their time trying to pick up on different grammar rules they ignored in the beginning, and it ends up wasting valuable time. If you know all the necessary grammar from the beginning, all you need to do is learn vocabulary to be conversational.

It is hard to have just one or two basics that I focus on in this article. It is best to explore free resources online to find absolute basics.

The best way to start off in Spanish is using good language learning software that will walk you through the basics. You can go by your own pace and learn all the grammar you need within about a week or two.

From there, you simply need to immerse yourself in Spanish! I was able to become conversational in Spanish in two months by finding people to speak with in the language, as well as reading free Spanish newspapers online.

When learning Spanish basics, the most important thing to do is learn your grammar very thoroughly! Once this is done, you will fly through learning vocabulary. If all you want to know is basic Spanish, follow this process will only take you a week or two. Buena suerte!
