The world is becoming more and more connected each and every day. The internet has allowed people from opposite sides of the globe to communicate easily with one another. This has spurred people to want to learn new languages so they can communicate better with the new friends they have made from all over the world. There are more reasons and benefits to learning a new language.
#1: Job
Having another language under your belt is great to put on your resume. Some employers will rather hire people who know more than 1 language. And also, more opportunities open up to you when you know more than one language. You could become a translator and they make good money too!
#2: Travel
Traveling will never be the same when you know the language of the country you are visiting. There is nothing like talking to the locals and finding out where they go and hang out. You will see and experience more of the culture than if you were just a foreign tourist. More opportunities open up to you too when exploring towns in other countries.
#3: Secrets!
Remember pig Latin when you were little? Well, a foreign language can act the same and have other perks along with it. You could tell secrets to your friends who you have gotten to learn the language with you and nobody else would know! Unless there happens to be someone who also understands that language around you!
#4: Friends
If you have made a friend who speaks another language, you two will become even better friends when you two can communicate in the same language. By you learning your friend's language, your friend will truly appreciate it and the friendship will be that much stronger.
#5: Fun
You can't escape this fact. It is just plain fun to learn a new language and maybe impress others!
#6: Neighbors
People are moving from one place to another, from one country to another, so it is very possible that your new neighbors speak a different language. What better way to add to your community and neighborhood by learning their language so you can communicate with them and befriend them and help them along in their new home?
#7: Culture
Learning a new language is an excellent way to learn about a different culture. Culture and language are very intertwined. Culture determines how words are expressed and how phrases are put together.
#8: After College
Sometimes you take a language class in school and then several years down the road, you forget almost everything! And then you find yourself in a position to travel to that country and then you start trying to remember what you learned. This is the perfect time to refresh what you have learned by re-learning the language again.
#9: Impress
You have to admit that people who speak several languages are just impressive! Don't you find the urge to ask someone who speaks a different language how they say things like Hi? Well, when you learn a new language, you can be the person that others will ask how you would say things.
#10: Roots
Growing up in a country that we weren't born in can easily get us to forget our mother language. Re-learning our own language will help us get closer to our roots and we will be able to communicate better with extended family members still living in the home country.
Although these are excellent reasons to learn a new language, you have probably recognized that each also benefits you as well. Don't think that you can't learn a new language because it is too hard or you are too old. Neither of those things are true. There are programs out there that will get you speaking a new language quickly and easily. And you will have fun doing it too! There is no need to fry your brain at it!
I have come across an excellent program that teaches you a new language via games and audio. This program will get you speaking a new language after just one session! Click the following link to check out the program: http://www.squidoo.com/learnnewlanguagewithrocketlanguages. |
