Improve French Speaking - How to Sound More Polished

By Franck Silvestre

Improving your French speaking is a worthwhile goal.

So many of us learned a second language in school but never really had the opportunity to use it and now it is very rusty. While you may remember the odd word or phrase here and there, you probably couldn't hold a conversation if you needed to.

Well it's never too late and achieving that polish to your French doesn't have to be a major financial commitment.

You can improve quickly, effectively and for much less than you may have thought.

With the various options open to us it is not the lengthy undertaking that it once was and you can advance your language skills immeasurably in a few short weeks. If you have already learned the basics, whether you remember it all or not, you are ahead of the game and improving your French speaking is an easy step to take.

You can purchase audio language courses at the bookstore or online, which would enable you to work at your own pace and at your convenience. You could listen on your way to work, or as you move around the house doing housework. There is also the option of using CD-ROM's on your personal computer that give you visual cues as well as audio. Internet based courses are yet another route you may wish to consider. Listening to a native speaker speak in French is probably the best way to achieve your goal.

Whichever method you decide to choose it is worth noting that there are a few top names that have proved themselves in the arena of language tuition and both the cost and effectiveness are points you will want to consider.

In no order of preference, the following courses would be ideal to use if you are hoping to enhance your French:

1. Rocket French

2. Rosetta Stone

3. Power Glide

4. Transparent

5. Pimsleur
