French Conversation - A Sentence You May Need If You Visit Paris This Year!

By Franck Silvestre

"Vous aimeriez une tasse de café ?"

"J'aimerais une tasse de café avec de la crème et le sucre, s'il vous plait."

Wouldn't you like to know what that question and answer meant? Or how about - "Je voudrais visiter un restaurant local où ils servent la meilleure nourriture Française"

Something you may want to say while visiting Paris.

These are simple every day comments that you can learn to speak and understand in a short period of time. Actually the first comment is a question asking - "would you like a cup of coffee?" - Followed by the answer - "I would love a cup of coffee with cream and sugar, please."

It's ok to buy a phrase book from the local bookstore, or the airport, in a case of emergency - but how well would that teach you to pronounce the words or aid you in having a real conversation in French?

If you had the opportunity to take a trip to Paris or Quebec wouldn't you love to be able to experience all the things the locals have access to? If you learn to speak and understand French you could ask the question above and experience something that the average tourist miss out on, because it would enable you to say "I would like to visit a local restaurant where they serve French food" and you would understand when the person you are having the conversation with answered with a recommendation.

Learning to speak a second language opens up a whole new world and being able to communicate with people in a foreign country - whether that is due to a trip or because of work - presents both of you with an experience you may not otherwise share. You are much more likely to enjoy what the locals enjoy if you are able to hold a conversation with them in their own language.

Learn to converse in French and see which doors open for you.
