How to learn Spanish? It's much easier than you think. In this article, I want to share with you many simple ways that you can learn the beautiful language of Spanish.

DVDs

Most DVDs have Spanish language subtitles. Try watching a movie and following the subtitles. You'll soon recognize a few common words. If it's a movie that you already know very well, try playing the Spanish audio track at the same time.

Alternatively, get some Spanish-language movies and try both types of subtitles.

Music

Go onto the Spanish version of Youtube at http://es.youtube.com and go to Videos/Music to find some popular Spanish songs. Find one that you like the beat of and where the lyrics are spoken clearly and not too quickly.

Then go to Google and search for the track title plus the word "lyricas". You'll soon have the full lyrics to the song.

This is a great way to learn new vocabulary because you'll be learning it in context rather than memorizing word lists. As a result, you will have no problems retaining this information.

Expose Yourself Frequently

What I mean by this is don't put off your language learning. For example, some people find that they are too "busy" and put off their learning. They decide to spend one week doing nothing but learning which is obviously quite difficult to maintain a motivation for. Then they leave it aside for 6 months and when they return, they don't remember much.

With language learning, it is better to learn a little but often. Even 10 minutes every 2 days is better than a week of study every 3 months.

Google Translate

This is a great way to learn. Simply find an interesting Spanish language site such as newspaper websites like El Pais and then put them into Google Translate (http://translate.google.com).

Now, hover your mouse over any of the translation and you'll get the original Spanish text. This way you can easily compare the Spanish and the English.

Try to ignore the English at first and just concentrate on the Spanish. Only then, if you get stuck, refer to the English translation.

Just be warned - the translation is not perfect, but you should get the gist!
