Knowing Spanish is an absolutely valuable gift, and the best way to learn is through Spanish immersion schools.
But not all Spanish immersion schools are the same. You must be very careful how you use immersion techniques.
I personally found I learned best at home, using immersion techniques at my own pace.
Most people approach Spanish learning the wrong way and end up burning out. Using the right techniques, you will learn quickly and easily.
How Immersion Works
Almost all language learning research today points to immersion as the best method to learn.
But most people don't even know how immersion works!
Consider when you were a baby. You didn't know any language, and because of that, you obviously couldn't take any classes.
Yet, by age 2, you were speaking your first language pretty darn well.
What happened? That was immersion at work.
Immersion And The Human Brain
The human brain is designed to see puzzles and patterns and then to solve them, subconsciously.
Languages are just another puzzle for the human brain to solve!
What this means is that the best way for you to learn is not to actively study Spanish like in high school, but rather to surround yourself with Spanish.
So What About Spanish Immersion Schools?
Really any school that features "immersion" as their method of teaching will do just fine for you.
Personally, I went the cheaper route to learn Spanish through immersion: software and audio learning.
I used Spanish learning software on my computer, going through activities and puzzles in Spanish.
Then in my car, to and from work every day, I listened to audio learning programs. They would speak phrases to me in Spanish, and I would repeat them back.
I was able to fit in about 20 hours of lessons a week this way, and it didn't interfere with my schedule at all.
The Bottom Line
Attend Spanish immersion schools as long as they feature, specifically, that they work through immersion only. Otherwise, I highly consider learning at your own pace at home with less expensive language learning software.
Cheap travel, amazing food, wonderful people... No more excuses! Follow my advice and learn Spanish in just a few short weeks using the methods that researchers and thousands of others have proven to just WORK. |
