Learn Spanish Online - How Anyone Including You Can Easily Learn Spanish

By Chris J. McWilliams

Learn Spanish online - this is a relatively new concept that did not exist a few years ago. In this article, I want to describe you how to use online tools to learn Spanish effectively and quickly.

Internet TV

There are a lot of Spanish language TV programs online. Just do a Google search for "spanish tv" or "tv en espanol". You will find a great many programs available.

A good idea is also to check out your existing DVDs at home. Quite often, you can switch on Spanish subtitles and this is quite handy.

Youtube

Youtube is a great place to pick up some Spanish for a couple of reasons.

First of all, you can find some basic tutorials on there. They won't make you fluent but they are a good introduction.

But even better is that you can find a lot of Spanish music on there. Music is a great way of learning a language. Simply find a popular song and then search for the lyrics on the internet. Within a very short space of time you will have memorised the song and of course, know the meaning. Your pronunciation will be very authentic - like a native Spanish speaker!

Newspaper

Practically every newspaper can be found online these days. The great thing is that most newspapers in most countries have the same news. So when you read about a world event that you can easily pick up new words this way without even using a dictionary.

Pronunciation

If you are unsure of pronunciation, you can use a text to speech tool. There are many available on the internet and they are not perfect but they are handy.

Self Study

The best way to learn a language is not in a traditional classroom. The fact that you are already interested in learning online is great, because self-study is the most efficient method of learning.

Think about it - a teacher can help you but the learning process is down to you. You must "internalize" the information of a new language to truly become fluent. This is why polyglots (people who can speak multiple languages) all use self study.

One example is Giuseppe Mezzofanti. He was a man who spoke 38 languages fluently and yet never left Italy and certainly did not receive formal classroom tuition in 38 languages!

The best self study packages do not require a textbook (the book belongs in the classroom!) and rely on audio only. They use a series of carefully planned progressive steps of you listening and then speaking and then checking yourself. This type of natural language acquisition is the best and there are many excellent self study audio programs that are available online.
