3 Easy Ways to Learn Spanish Words

By Noah M. Benjamin

The hardest part of learning any language is learning the thousands of words the language uses. However, there are easy methods to learn Spanish words. I present the best methods in this article.

1. Use a good piece of Spanish language learning software. Any good, well-reviewed piece of Spanish language learning software will teach you the essential words you need to get by. You can move at your own pace with software, too, meaning you can learn two words a day or even fifty words a day. It depends on how disciplined you are.

2. Take advantage of online translation tools. There are free tools available online that will translate text in Spanish to English for you. When you hear or read something you don't understand, put the text into these tools, and they will tell you exactly what they mean.

3. Store sentences in your heads, not single words. This is a method I learned long ago for learning anything, and it applies especially well to learning Spanish. The human brain can store more information by processing large chunks of data rather than little chunks. For example, your brain can either store seven WORDS at a time, or seven SENTENCES at a time. Get it? So take sentences you hear in Spanish that contain lots of vocabulary you want to know, and memorize them. Try for one or two sentences a day, and just repeat them over and over again in your head. This is FAR more effective than trying to memorize just one word, since your brain is instead able to store six or seven words at a time. This sounds strange at first, but just try it -- it works!

These are just three methods of learning Spanish words. I was very disciplined for two months and used these three methods in conjunction with a few others, and at the end of the two months, I was conversational in Spanish. Try them out!
