Learning Spanish Words - The Simple Method

By Frank Cruz

If you are looking for a fast method of learning Spanish words then you need to read this article. There are a few basic methods that we all use to remember words when learning a language, but most are not very effective. In this article we'll look at some methods of remembering words, and some of the pros and cons of each.

Punishment Method

The punishment method involves repeating the word endlessly. Basically, you repeat the word to yourself until your brain is so tired it will remember the Spanish word just to get you to stop thinking about it.

Pros: You will eventually remember the word.

Cons: Slow. You feel tired just opening your Spanish textbooks.

Torture Method

This method involves, not only repeating the word endlessly, but also writing the words out on little slips of paper and continually testing yourself.

You must test yourself numerous times a day on the same words in order to remember them.

Pros: You learn slightly faster than using the Punishment Method

Cons: Makes housework look favorable

Flash Method

Using an automated tool, like flashcard software, you constantly drill yourself until you have no trouble remembering the words.

Pros: Faster than previous two methods. Easier to remember words.

Cons: Boring

Association

Involves associating a Spanish word with an image in your mind so you don't forget the word. This method can be used to memorize one word every 10 seconds.

Pros: Fast. You won't forget the words.

Cons: Starting off can be a little slow unless the exercises have already been prepared.
