Spanish - Future American Language

By Anthony Hendriks

Is Spanish destined to replace English in the United States? To even discuss this subject is treason for many Americans. The fact is that it may be a distinct possibility in our future. The Spanish speaking community has more than doubled in America in the past ten years.

Children of Spanish speaking parents learn two languages. Often, Spanish is all that is spoken at home. Many older Hispanics have no desire to learn English and continue to speak Spanish exclusively. They shop at Spanish markets, eat out at Spanish restaurants, and watch Spanish television. Many Americans do not realize that there is a Spanish language revolution taking place in America. The Hispanic community is the fastest growing segment of our population. Immigration is a very hot subject all across America.

The exclusive use of the Spanish language over English is often at the root of these discussions. Most Americans do not understand why the Hispanic community does not encourage the use of the English language. It is serving to divide much of America. The Spanish language is quickly becoming one of the most popular languages in the world. There are over 330 million Spanish speaking people in the world. This number grows every year. This growth means it is very important for American companies to have Spanish speakers on the pay roll.

It has never been more important for companies to be able to market their products in Spanish. Learning Spanish is very important for anyone who is in sales and service. The ability to market in Spanish can often mean the difference in profit or loss. Spanish may not replace English in the United States, but it is definitely not going anywhere. It is growing in its popularity around the world. Now is the time to learn to speak Spanish.
