Is Rocket Spanish Good?

By Joseph Shalita

When deciding to learn Spanish, there are several online options available, one of which is Rocket Spanish. The main question is if it is any good, and how does it compare with other options. In order to answer that, you must sit down and evaluate what your language learning goals actually are.

If you think that you will be able to speak Spanish is a week just buy buying a computer program, well that may not be very realistic. You can however achieve a decent conversational level fairly quickly, at least enough to order out in a restaurant or basic friendly conversation.

One factor to keep in mind with this is how much do you want to spend, or with some programs, invest in your Spanish education. Programs can run up to several hundred dollars, with private classes running into the thousands. The thing to realize is that just because a program may be expensive, it does not mean that it will be the right program for you.

A good example of this is Rocket Spanish. This program is geared toward those of you who are more audio orientated. Rosetta Stone is more visual in nature. With Rocket Spanish, you will be working with audio files which are either downloaded to your computer, or listened to through their website. There are also volumes of written material that comes along with these files. One advantage is that you can listen to your lessons in the car or even download them to your Ipod. With Rosetta Stone, you must use it on your computer. Both programs are great, it just depends on how you work best.

One advantage to Rocket Spanish is the price. It runs about one hundred dollars, which is a far cry to the two hundred to five hundred dollar price tag of Rosetta Stone. Because of this, it is a very good entry level product that should get you speaking Spanish fairly quickly.

Some of the things that you will learn are how to introduce yourself, ordering in restaurants, and generally getting around on your vacation to Spain or Mexico.

One other thing about this program, and this is very important, is that it is fun to use. There is nothing worse than working with a program that is more boring than watching the grass grow. Unfortunately, there are lots of those out there. Of course, the only way you will learn Spanish is by using these programs and working hard. the program can not learn for you. As stated earlier, the trick is to use something that will keep you interested over the long period so you can learn. Rocket Spanish will fit that bill nicely, and will not break the bank. That is a great combination.
